North Chelmsford, Mass., October 31, 2000 -
Net-Temps today announced that it has joined the TRUSTe
privacy seal program. Today's announcement demonstrates that Net-Temps
meets TRUSTe's strict
requirements in the areas of disclosure, choice, access and security.
Beginning immediately, Net-Temps will prominently display the TRUSTe
Privacy Seal, or "trustmark,"
on its website. The TRUSTe seal offers a direct link to Net-Temps' privacy
statement, which provides
website visitors with details of the company's privacy and security
policies. By displaying the TRUSTe
privacy seal, Net-Temps will assure its customers about how the company's
website handles personally
Kevin Strange, Net-Temps' Vice President and Chief Technical Officer
stated, "We respect the issues of
privacy and the concerns people have when providing personal information
and its subsequent use over
the Internet. By voluntarily joining the TRUSTe privacy program, Net-Temps
demonstrates the commitment
we have to protecting the information our website users disclose and that
they understand exactly how
it is used."
The TRUSTe privacy seal is an online branded symbol that signifies that a
website has posted a privacy
statement and, moreover, that the company's data gathering and
dissemination practices address the elements
of disclosure, choice, access and security outlined in the Federal Trade
Commission's fair information practices.
Specifically, TRUSTe's licensees must:
Disclose their information gathering and dissemination practices
Give users choice - through opt-in or opt-out - of any secondary uses of
their personal information
Provide users with access to their personal information to correct any
Ensure that reasonable security mechanisms are being used to protect the
data that is collected
TRUSTe ensures that its licensees are in compliance with their privacy
statement through regular
monitoring and the TRUSTe Watchdog, an easy to use alternative dispute
resolution mechanism for consumers.
"It has become increasingly clear that the TRUSTe seal has emerged as a
symbol that consumers look for
when deciding whether to do business with a website," said Bob Lewin,
Executive Director and CEO of TRUSTe.
"By becoming a TRUSTe licensee, Net-Temps is making it easy for its
customers to protect their personal
