How To Add Accomplishments To Your Resume

Accomplishments are a critical part of your resume because they allow you to stand out from your competition in the job market. Yet, as a Career Coach, accomplishments are the one thing I usually see missing from resumes. There is a simple formula for developing brilliant accomplishments for your resume. Try this one, two three approach.

  1. What was a challenge you faced in your job?

  2. What was the action you took?

  3. What was the result of your actions?

Yes, it really is that simple. Your answer to these three questions will help you formulate short success stories that illustrate your transferable skills that all employers are looking for. The results of your accomplishments should focus on bottom-line initiatives such as:

Time saved

Money saved

Processes improved

Increased customer satisfaction

Revenue increased

Developing resume accomplishments will also help you prepare your selling points for interviews. The time spent thinking about how you’ve helped your employer and peers will go a long way toward achieving prospective employer attention.
