The Bartech Group Wins 2008 MMBDC Minority Supplier of the Year Award
October 9, 2008, LIVONIA — The Bartech Group, a talent acquisition and management firm that provides professional staffing, workforce management, business process outsourcing and consulting, and other human capital solutions, won the 2008 Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC) Class IV Minority Supplier of the Year Award for the second consecutive year, and the third time since 2003. Jon E. Barfield, Chairman and President, accepted the award at the MMBDC’s 25th Annual Awards Dinner held at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center Hotel on October 8. The event honored corporate and minority business enterprise (MBE) award winners as well as Harriet Michel, President of the National Minority Supplier Development Council. With 20 years of service, Ms. Michel will retire in January 2009.
The award is based on demonstrating outstanding performance in the following areas: business growth, product innovation, cost saving performance, MBE procurement spend, minority employment and job creation history, and community involvement. Very importantly, customer letters of recommendation were reviewed when selecting the winner.
“This award is a testament to the consistent, high quality services we provide our customers. I am grateful to our customers and employees who deliver our services because without them, this award and recognition would not be possible,” commented Mr. Barfield. He went on to say, “It is also important to recognize the unique contributions that Harriet Michel has made to companies like Bartech. She raised the bar regarding both the performance expectations of MBEs, and the expected commitment levels of corporations to diversity procurement spend.”
