Job Description: Participate as a member of the Windows Server Engineering team in projects, on-going support and operating system release management activities of Windows Server and VMware ESX in a globally distributed pharmaceutical environment (10,000+ Servers). Minimum Requirements: - 7 years of strong hands-on proficiency as a Windows Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer supporting & maintaining Windows Server 2000 & 2003 in medium to large scale mission-critical, distributed, Microsoft-centric enterprise environments. - 3 years of strong hands-on proficiency with managing & supporting VMware Infrastructure 3 & ESX 3 Clusters (ESX 3.5 strongly preferred) with specific experience in VMware ESX 3.5, vCenter, HA, DRS, and VMotion. - Experience as a member of a tier-3 engineering/support team providing timely diagnosis, trouble-shooting, and resolution to complex, high visibility problem incidents related to Windows Server and VMware. - Strong command of written & spoken English with experience developing and maintaining installation plans, checklists/design documents in Visio, Word & Project. - Security-conscious, self-starter with strong initiative and able to work independently without direct supervision or as a highly functioning member of a project team. - Open collaborative style and great communication skills (written & oral) able to work calmly and methodically in highly process-change-configuration management oriented production environments as well as unstructured dynamic lab/staging areas. - Ability to accurately scope work, provide detailed status reports & timely escalations. - Ability to build positive working relationships with peers, cross-functional remotely-sited global teams, external vendors and management personnel. - Strategic mindset and experience leading small project/root-cause analysis teams.

Requirements: Technical Skills Required: - Strong understanding of infrastructure fundamentals: OSI Model, IP services (DNS, DHCP, WINS, IPSEC, IPv6), PKI & networking concepts (switching-routing-firewall). - Familiarity with storage concepts and technologies (RAID, SAN, NAS). - Hands-on operational experience with physical installation and virtual provisioning of HP Proliant hardware (-Class Chassis, BL-series blades, DL series rack-mounts). - Familiarity with HP Systems Management Tools (PSP, SIM, & ILO; VC desirable). - Familiarity with Active Directory operations (DC?s, GPO?s, OU?s, DFS). - Hands-on experience and understanding of design and operational concepts related to Windows Server 2003/2008 infrastructure (upgrades, migrations, backup, restore, DR, patching, anti-virus, systems management, monitoring, security and reporting). - Strong knowledge of Windows Server internals (kernel modes, boot options) and administration fundamentals (event logging/management, performance logging/tuning, file-print, COTS & third-party app integration/trouble-shooting). - Strong hands-on support and operating expertise with MSCS / VMware ESX Clusters.
Desired Skills & Qualifications: - Production exposure to Windows Server 2008 (R2 preferred) & vSphere 4. - Strong scripting development experience (VBScript, WMI, or Powershell). - Strong hands-on support and operating expertise with TS app-mode & Citrix Server. - Microsoft MCSA 2003 / MCSE 2003 Certification (MCITP 2008 & VCP desirable). - Strong documentation skills and ability to perform technical writing where warranted.
