Monitor business decisions to assure that underwriters operate within the guides set out in their respective position description, authority limits, premium modification limits and branch service directives. Exercise control over debit and credit usage as assigned by the underwriting manager. Assist agents, underwriters and other departments with technical issues. Receive, interpret and disseminate experience reports, guides, manuals and underwriting procedures. Assure that proper instruction relating to use of such material is conducted. May be responsible for the selection, service and maintenance of a profitable, growing book of business for assigned territory or assigned group of agents in accordance with company goals. Maintain current knowledge of company and industry developments. Review insurance publications, attend seminars or participate in formalized coursework. Occasional travel is required.

Requirements: College graduate with a degree in insurance or business administration preferable. Experience may be substituted for college education at a rate of two years experience for each year of college. Must possess the general insurance and IIA UND designation or CPCU designation. Must possess at least seven years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
Must possess good underwriting judgment and have the ability to make sound decisions. Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary, including the ability to speak effectively before groups. Must be able to work effectively with others, as well as independently and possess demonstrated problem solving and leadership abilities. Must maintain high standards of professional competence.
