Job Description: The Sr. Database Administrator's role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases for an internally developed Oracle application while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures, which include database disaster recovery and security to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and accompanying software.
In addition, this individual is responsible data migration to fit new functionality and business needs. The Sr. Database Administrator must have the ability to analyze and solve business problems, assess business needs to recommend appropriate information technology solutions.
-Provides expertise in Oracle Database 9i and/or10g, SQL and PL/SQL. -Possessed a working knowledge of database administration including day-to-day maintenance and availability, long-term strategic goals, software upgrades, disaster recovery, backup and recovery, physical data storage, performance tuning and security. -Provides guidance to part-time backup database administrator(s). -Supports activities in development, test and production environments throughout the development lifecycle for new functionality and changes in existing functionality for in-house Oracle Forms, Java, and Reports applications. -Designs and writes data migration programs when new functionality is introduced. -Imparts knowledge to developers and customers in the form of technical and non-technical documentation.

Requirements: Required: -BS in computer science, information systems, or other technical degree; the ability to demonstrate skills may be considered if candidate does not possess a BS in a related field. -3+ recent years experience using SQL and administering Oracle Database 9i or 10g. -3+ recent years experience using PL/SQL and writing procedures, functions, and triggers; must have excellent command of the PL/SQL language. -Prior experience with design and implementation of redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving -Prior experience with database transaction and security audits -Thorough knowledge of Oracle relational database structure; strong analytical, problem solving, and programming skills. -Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products as required -Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience -Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques -Strong technical documentation skills -Good interpersonal skills -Strong planning, organization, communication and writing skills. -Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Operating System: Windows XP Database: Oracle 10g/9i GUI: SQL*Plus, Microsoft Office Suite Languages: SQL, PL/SQL
Preferred: -Knowledge of OpenVMS operating system -Experience with any of the tools: SQL Developer/Toad/SQL expert, or other performance tuning tools
