In this position, you'll have the opportunity to:
Focus on the discovery of novel vaccines against viruses such as those in the family of Herpesviridae
Apply molecular virology techniques to the characterization of existing vaccine candidates and will help with design, construction, and evaluation of novel vaccine leads
Design novel recombinant expression constructs and of attenuated microbial genomes and execute complex recombinant DNA manipulations to assemble constructs and than evaluate the performance of assays needed to characterize the resulting vaccines or vaccine-producing cell lines
Perform PCR-based detection/quantitation of target sequences, viral or cellular genome characterization by sequencing, RFLP, southern blot, and western blot
Are you interested? The ideal candidate will possess:
Ph.D. in life sciences with at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience (this is a must only Ph.D. candidates can be considered)
Must be proficient with molecular cloning and basic mammalian cell culture techniques
Must have experience in Virology techniques such as plaque assays, virus propagation, and characterization via molecular techniques including sequencing, RFLP, quantitative PCR, southern blotting, and western blotting
Must be able to work with Excel, Word, DNA analysis software, and data analysis applications such as Prism.
