Job Description: IBM Field Service Engineer with 10+ years of experience
Our client utilizes a unique service strategy which revolves around the deployment of "hot spares" to support their portfolio of mission critical clients. Our client offers outstanding pay and benefits to superior field engineers in hardware systems maintenance.
Our client is the fastest growing independent maintainer of mid-range servers from IBM, SUN and HP/Compaq/DEC.
Mainframe Hardware support:
IBM zSeries, pSeries, iSeries, xSeries
Experience a plus with hardware boxes- model #s such as: 3172, 3174, 3745
Storage products- machine type 2107, Shark
Ideal candidate must be willing to cross train and learn the following platforms:
- HP 9000
- Sun Microsystems
- DEC AlphaServer
- IBM RS/6000 series
- Compaq ProLiant servers
- Dell PowerEdge servers
-VAX
-Alpha
-VMS
-AIX
Familiarity with system installation, hardware replacement procedures and firmware upgrades required. Candidates should be experienced with disk and tape sub-systems, including RAID arrays and tape libraries. Seeking field engineers with the ability to interpret and diagnose system error logs. Knowledge of diagnostics, system exercisers and Operating System utilities used to troubleshoot, interrogate, re-configure and test mid-range to enterprise class servers required.

Job may require travel: Great Lakes Region: Detroit, Indianapolis, Louisville, Pittsburgh. Job may require after hours, call outs, and standby rotation.
Ideal candidate must be client-focused. Candidate will be a total solutions provider. Engineer will fix it, resolve it, and follow through.
List of requirements:
10+ years of prior experience required in field service or support. Post-secondary education preferred. Manufacturer training a plus.
