Job Description: PURPOSE
Provide fluid technology expertise in support of Product Engineering groups engaged in design and development of diesel engines. Work with others to resolve problems at customer, supplier or manufacturing sites related to the fluids used in diesel engines or commercial vehicles. Coordinate engine fluid development, validation and release for various engine programs.
Support Engineering product groups on lubrication, fuel, coolant, and Diesel Exhaust Fluid issues, including oil analysis and interpretation of results. Official setting of maintenance intervals with support from the Chemical Lab team.
Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of field issues such as filter plugging, coolant gelling, etc.
Coordinate fluid filter development, validation and release for various engine programs.
Formulate project plans and track projects based on established job priorities
Monitor work progress and resolve problems in order to ensure timely completion of projects
Complete project work, draw conclusions, make recommendations and publish results
Maintain network of oil/additive companies and test labs.
Participation in Engine Manufactures Association and ASTM (well known standards organization) fluids committees.
Maintain a neat workplace and organized information files pertaining to project work assignments.
Provide management with regular reports on project work plans and status for information and resource management purposes.
Maintain a daily record of work hours by job number for budgeting and auditing purposes per published instructions.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering AND at least 4 years of related experience is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Some group leader / supervisory / project lead experience is required
Masters degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
Experience in engine fluid analysis and methodologies for lube oil, fuel, and coolant is preferred.
Knowledge of lube oil technology, additive package chemistry, base oil classes, Application Programming Interface classifications and associated testing, etc. is preferred.
Working knowledge of Internal Combustion engines, including fuel and lube circuit design, components, and function is preferred.
Capable of interfacing with Original Equipment Manufacturer's and end customers defining programs, structuring work, execution and follow-up is preferred.
Use of basic statistical tools in the gathering and analysis of engine / vehicle test data is preferred.
Ability to travel domestically and world wide when needed is preferred.
Experience Level: 4 Years
