Job Description: Responsible for moderate scale security assignments with limited direction from senior team members. Gather, investigate, and analyze security requirements, and processes. Responsible for the preparation of resource estimates, evaluations, and recommendations. Participate in the review, evaluation, and recommendation of emerging security technologies. Participate in security assignments. Discuss security topics with team members and makes recommendations. Apply understanding of security issues. Develop necessary documentation of security systems, projects, and/or processes to ensure unified understanding of system details. Maintain the portfolio of security training material for the Security Engineering group. Responsible for initiatives that build and enhance knowledge of information security areas across AEP as part of a comprehensive security awareness program. Ensure training is up to date and in compliance with the latest applicable regulatory parameters. Demonstrate problem solving, decision-making, and functional area knowledge. Assist team members in a variety of information security activities. Understand and apply principles of project management in the development of deliverables. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Maintains a high level of awareness about the external and internal AEP environment and how these factors impact the AEP and its security posture. Work with business units and IT at large to implement changes resulting from the evolving security strategy. 2. Conducts comprehensive assessments to determine risk, regulatory impacts, training, and awareness priorities. Maintains the security training plan and associated tools and processes. 3. Performs as subject matter expert in a large number of projects, policy and standards development, and process definitions. 4. Serves as point of contact for information flow between Security Engineering, Infrastructure, Application Development, and Support teams. Works with teams to address Information Security Areas Coordinates efforts with other Security Engineering resources. 5. Leads security-related projects, from initiation to completion; reports status periodically. Completes deliverables on time. 6. Performs other duties as assigned 7. 24 X 7 coverage working days, nights and weekends on a rotating basis, incorporating a mix between 8 hr and 12 hr shifts. 8.Employees issue daily turnover reports and update tickets for issues. Minimum Requirements: EDUCATION: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field. EXPERIENCE: Four or more years of related work experience as an Information Security Technician, Security Consultant, Security/Technology Analyst (or related). One or more security related technologies highly desirable (e.g. Network Intrusion Detection, Host-based Intrusion Detection, or processes (Risk Assessment, Vulnerability Assessment). Licenses/Certifications: S+, GIAC, CISSP, vendor-specific a plus.
