This position is responsible for developing an optimal supply base that consistently provides quality materials at the lowest cost in a timely manner. Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Select and certify suppliers based on quality, total cost, lead time, service, technical support, and financial stability.
- Monitor, document, and communicate supplier performance in the areas of quality, delivery, and responsiveness to supplier corrective actions and sample submission requests.
- Coordinate and facilitate early supplier involvement to insure adherence to industrial design intent, engineering specifications, and schedule.
- Formulate sourcing strategies to support short-term and long-term operational requirements.
- Serve as a commodity specialist by tracking market trends and economic conditions affecting assigned commodities.
- Conduct on-site reviews of supplier facilities and product/process capability and capacity to assess current and potential supplier qualifications.
- Lead and/or support supplier quality improvement initiatives and supplier quality assessments/audits.
- Coordinate and facilitate early supplier involvement projects to insure adherence to design intent, specifications, and schedules.

- Bachelor or Associate Degree in Materials Management, Business, Supply Chain Management, or Operation Management. - Three to five years experience of purchasing materials in a manufacturing environment. - Excellent communication and attention to detail skills. - Ability prioritize work load and maintain flexibility. - Certification in purchasing management (CPM), Six Sigma, LEAN or formal training in Supply Chain Management is desirable.
