Job Description: NEED TO BE HANDS ON WITH/IN THE SPACECRAFT COMMUNICATIONS/LINKS ARENA
RF Engineer for test and engineering support at NASA for Test and Integration with emphasis on the RF Engineering Lab, RF Spacecraft Simulations, and Compatibility Testing. Work is on site at GSFC with <20% travel. Looking for a candidate with the following capabilities: 1)Experience with S-band, X-band, Ku-band, and/or Ka-band frequencies and hardware components. 2)Experience with a variety of RF testing from the component to system level including interface tests. 3)Experience with various RF modulation methods, i.e. QPSK, BPSK, PM, PSK, 8PSK, OQPSK. 4)Hands-on pre-launch RF testing of communication links between spacecraft and ground stations. Especially with command, telemetry and ranging subsystems. 5)Experience with link budget calculations between spacecraft and ground stations. 6)Knowledge/experience with the NASA Tracking Data and Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) and pseudo-random spread signals. 7)Experience and/or knowledge of bit-error-rate tests; telemetry, command, and ranging threshold tests. 8)Experience with engineering reviews, evaluations, and recommendations for product requirements and deliverables. 9 Participate and eventually become a lead on various spacecraft projects including project and test meetings, various design and system reviews. 10)Experience and/or knowledge of fiber optic transmitters and receivers. 11)Capable of writing test procedures, plans, reports, and preparing presentations is desired. 12)Other skills with Matlab, LabVIEW, and some basic programming skills are a plus.
