Job Description: PRS2972: 7-8 SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST Location: Hartford, CT Bill Rate: Length: 12 month contract Type of Contract: Right to Hire SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST SUMMARY: This individual participates in all business analysis functions with the exception of Enterprise Architecture. PRIMARY DUTIES: -Create and/or provide input to project plans as they pertain to requirements -Conduct interviews/gather information with subject matter experts enabling them to articulate capabilities needed to meet their objectives -Build and update artifacts as required by the project; ensure that all diagrams and descriptions are complete and consistent -Facilitates and manages the development of business requirements with subject matter experts -Ensure preparation of Requirements Specification documentation as required by the project -Provide expertise on the tools that the Delivery Methodology recommends for requirements modeling, review, documentation and management -Understand and use the components of the Delivery Methodology that focus on requirements -Serve as lead for requirements on small to complex projects -Serve as lead on business process improvement efforts -Ensure that test conditions and test scripts are created and validated for user acceptance testing -Manage requirements review sessions -Manage requirements traceability and change request process EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY: BS/BA degree or equivalent experience / Certification preferred WORK EXPERIENCE: -Minimum of 5 years BA experience -Solid Knowledge of the requirements life cycle, requirements analysis approaches, and management techniques KEY COMPETENCIES: Business Domain Knowledge -Strong knowledge of the insurance industry and workflow -Solid knowledge of any one business area or product, and their supporting systems -Demonstrates agility to build upon existing knowledge and quickly gather information Planning/Project Management -Self directing, once assigned a project -Strong time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines efficiently and effectively -Exhibits solid understanding of how to identify stakeholders and coordinate activities with others -Demonstrates strong skills to select appropriate business analysis approaches -Supports change and clearly demonstrates ability to adjust priorities when necessary Mentoring/Leadership -Ability to lead large projects -Ability to lead business improvement projects -Ability to serve as mentor and/or resource to other Business Analysts Communication/Facilitation/Influencing Skills -Strong written and oral communication skills with proven ability to communicate to technical and nontechnical audience -Strong ability to interview subject matter experts and skilled at facilitating to small or medium size groups -Demonstrates solid presentation skills and can effectively adjust communication style to the audience -Strong relationship building skills to collaborate effectively within team and with other business areas to bring together desired results -Articulates needs and conveys benefits in an effort to influence outcomes -Demonstrates solid negotiation skills Problem Solving/Analytical/Decision Making -Recognizes and analyzes business need using solid knowledge of business analysis approaches and techniques -Extremely detail-oriented -Ability to work independently -Takes initiative to escalate issues when appropriate -Takes responsibility for decision and actions using effective techniques Technology/Techniques Used: -Expertise in using Modeling tool, MS Office, Delivery Methodology and Requirements Specification templates -Business process modeling -Use case description and modeling -Functional decomposition -Context modeling; Architecture modeling -Posting and communication of requirements to others -Requirements management and traceability -Product modeling; Data modeling
