Job Description: Job Title: Video Network Signal Processing Engineer (Regional Content Engineering group) Job Description: The Video Signaling Engineer role is to execute and write engineering change orders for acquiring video signal from various sources: Satellite, local broadcaster, PEG, and EAS. Engineer must be familiar with video engineering networks to acquire content off-air as well as direct connections to the origination source. Engineer must also be familiar with rules governing content transmission to the subscriber: Sports Black Out, Emergency Alert Service, QAM mapping. This will entail: -Detailed knowledge of Video Signal Processing; ASI router, SEM, MPTS MUX -Knowledge and experience of engineering network to acquire video from various sources: Satellite, local broadcaster, PEG, and EAS -Must be familiar with designing networks to acquire content off-air as well as direct connections to the origination source -Knowledge of NTSC, SDI, ASI, RF demodulation equipment, Analog, Digital, and IP encoding/decoding equipment; MPEG2, direct connection video transport networks, Satellite reception; LNB, IRD -Thorough understanding of EIA channel map, QAM, MPTS, SPTS. -Knowledge of Edgemod and Supertrunk networks -Experience with video engineering of transmission and switching platforms used for the delivery and support of TV service offerings and related services on a national network -Development of area-wide and company-wide deployment plans for video signaling, transport, and switching systems -Resolution of platform technical and planning issues with suppliers and business partners -Developing explicit Nationwide engineering schemes for the deployment of Super Head-end, Video Head End and Video Serving Office (i.e. central office/video hub) equipment -Support development of and review appropriate Methods and Procedures (M&P's) relevant to Video deployment -Write engineering guidelines to be used by Video operations that will care for all video elements used for signaling/transmission and switching. -Experience ensuring quality of video services is maintained. -IP address experience -Interface with internal customers and vendors to ensure timely resolution of network impacting troubles; -Trouble resolution/ troubleshooting experience and knowledge of Company Video Network for failures -Work closely with Manager and Section Managers and technical staff during software and hardware upgrades/installs to ensure seamless transition during the implementation process, and to identify sources of trouble. -Multi-channel television experience (Cable TV provider experience is a must) -Experience with VOD Servers -Systems (EMS) and Operational Support Systems (OSS) -Knowledge of network installation, maintenance and Central Office processes and procedures Required Skills: -3-5 years of Video Head End experience -2 years of IP addressing experience -2 years of Sonet Dark Fiber Experience -3 years of RF engineering experience. -Knowledge of NTSC, SDI, ASI. -Detailed knowledge of RF demodulation equipment. -Detailed knowledge of Analog, Digital, and IP encoding/decoding equipment; MPEG2. -Knowledge of direct connection video transport networks.
