Job description:
The consultant should be able to design the high-level strategy and come up with policies and procedures for the Operations Group. This will form the core of the Operations Manual when the application goes into production.
Tasks of this nature will encompass escalation procedures, disaster recovery procedures, troubleshooting, service level standards etc.
Consultant can primarily come from a Systems Administration, Network Administration, Storage or Database Administration background, but will need to be cross-functional in the other areas to be able to be effective in the role as a documentor.
Should be technically sound in Solaris, Oracle, EMC, Cisco, etc. Have good verbal and written communication to prepare Operations Manual/documentation.
The environment consists of Oracle 9i, Solaris 2.8, Sun E10K servers, EMC, Veritas, Cisco equipment, etc. As there is a lot interfacing with various groups (DBA's, sys admins, network admins...), good communication skills are required and good technical documentation skills is also important.
