Job Description: The Application Support Specialist will work within the Application Support group to support ongoing production maintenance and phased roll out implementation of the HR and Benefits functions of PeopleSoft HRMS. S/he will: Ensure that the operational support and production control functions are accurate, efficient, and that they conform to agency operational standards; Provide rapid response to problems; Coordinate effectively with production control and operational counterparts and ensure the highest level of application availability to the end users; Document operational problems following standards and procedures; Work with vendor supplied operational and production control staff; Set-up and schedule jobs and scripts; Monitor/verify inputs and outputs for quality control and review written operational procedures; Assist testers as needed and resolve operational problems during development and testing as well as production. Depending upon business needs, after-hours on-site coverage may be required, including nights and weekends.
Essential Skills: Knowledge of MVS/JCL, TSO/ISPF and UNIX; Knowledge of PeopleSoft, including People Tools Process Scheduler; Experience with mainframe compile and link procedures; Experience with Rational Suite, including Clear Quest; Experience with GIS; Experience working with an enterprise and wide large scale implementations; Experience with PeopleSoft implementations in a government or civil service environment; Experience working within a matrix environment; Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (Oral and written), skills preferred.
