Job Description: Our Client is seeking a motivated, smart, and driven leader to become their Director of Marketing. The Director of Marketing will build the marketing team and execute the overall strategic marketing plan for a fast growing, consumer Internet Company. The Director of Marketing will be a member of the senior management team and will help guide the strategic direction of our clients online marketplace. This is a perfect opportunity for a senior marketing manager at an established internet company to step up to the Director level at a promising, Benchmark Capital funded, start-up. Job Responsibilities:
- Build and manage the marketing group and oversee the marketing budget - Refine and implement the marketing and sales strategy with specific focus on driving membership growth, brand awareness, and marketplace usage - Design and implement integrated online marketing strategies and campaigns - Work with development and product teams to integrate marketing needs into clients website - Compile, interpret, and report key metrics tied to specific marketing campaigns - Serve a key role as a senior manager assisting in general corporate strategy - Engage in business development activities with potential partners - Design and oversee affiliate, email and search engine marketing programs and campaigns - Understand and evaluate competitive position with respect to new entrants in the space

Requirements: Our Ideal Candidate: - 5-10 years experience in consumer marketing and strategic development at a leading internet company - Experience executing multi-pronged marketing campaigns including: online marketing, product marketing, brand management, public relations, direct marketing, and business development - Experience overseeing market research and product development - Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, effective marketing-related writing skills, and the initiative to work in a fast paced start-up environment - Experience building and growing a successful marketing organization - Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative - MBA from a top institution preferred but not a requirement given the right experience - Experience in the shipping industry a plus, but not required
