Job Description:
Summary/Position ObjectivesThe Software Developer s role is to write, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production life cycle. The Software developer will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide status reports where required. Evaluates business application needs, recommends solutions. Documents business requirements associated with application changes. Properly unit tests and assists with system testing for all new and revised applications Responsibilities/Essential FunctionsAssists developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.Assists in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications.Researches and documents requirements of program users.Writes, translates, and codes software programs and applications according to specifications.Runs and monitors software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.Administers critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.Generates statistics and prepares and writes reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process. Installs software products for end users as required.Writes programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or appearance of company Web site and/or related Web applications as necessary.Conducts research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.Recommends, schedules, and performs software improvements and upgrades.Liaises with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems. Secondary Functions:Maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies used to deploy business processesWorks in a manner that is not disruptive to peers, supervisors and/or subordinates.Maintains regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer s sole discretion.Maintains availability and willingness to work such days and hours as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.Maintains availability and willingness to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs (if travel required). Technical QualificationsProgramming Languages: SQL | VB.NET | C#.NET | ASP.NET | XML | AJAX | JQueryFrameworks: .Net Framework through 4.0Software Tools: Visual Studio 2005/2008, SSIS, SSRS, IIS Client, ClearCaseDatabases: Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003, 2008 General QualificationsComfortable with object oriented programming.Working knowledge of web and windows services, internet and windows applications.Ability to be flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and lawsAbility to conduct research into software-related issues and products.Ability to apply logic to projects. Effective written and oral communication skills, as well as effective listening and interpersonal skills.Highly self motivated and directed.Keen attention to detail.Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.Strong customer service orientation. Education and Work ExperienceHands-on software troubleshooting experience.Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Experience designing and developing in a multiple tier (n-tier) environment.Understands principles and practical application of object oriented programming, and core fundamentals of Microsoft Best Practices.Bachelor degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems, or business administration and at least 2-3 years related IT work experience, or experience equal to the education requirements.Training in systems analysis and design; systems development life cycle methodology, and client server development tools is critical.A minimum of 2-3 years of applications programming are also necessary.
