Job Description:
Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated is looking for a Splice Coordinator to fill a requirement at a customer site in Wentzville, MO. This is an on-going assignment.

Candidates must have strong computer skills including experience with Excel. A telecom background and experience with fiber-optics preferred. Looking for candidates who are eager to learn and grow with the company.

Plans, coordinates, and supervises the splicing activities required to support a fiber optic network infrastructure. Performs feasibility studies and creates budgets for client and routine splicing projects. Coordinates clients, inter-company departments, and contract construction personnel to ensure splicing activities meet required project timeframes. Duties also include supervision of contract construction personnel to ensure quality of all splicing as stated under R.U.S and CenturyTel construction practices.

Problem Solving and Decision Making
Typical: On a day to day basis, coordinating client, contract, and company personnel concerning the splicing schedule of current projects. The project dates sometimes change to adjust to other required dates in associated projects that have been changed. This takes a considerable amount of coordination between client, contract, and company personnel to reschedule.

Complex: This position is required to research electronic splicing data to perform feasibility studies. The research consists of determining fiber continuity and availability through existing splice points on a 13,000 mile network. This research can be extremely detailed and complex.

Challenges
The most difficult aspect of this job is performing feasibility studies, budgeting, coordination, and supervision of multiple projects concurrently and handling the day to day obstacles while keeping the projects moving forward on schedule and under budget. This position also requires frequent supervision of splicing activities during maintenance windows defined as 11:59 p.m. to 06:00 a.m.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
1) Vocational or Technical certificate in a related field or the equivalent in training and experience.

2) Minimum of eight years experience in engineering, plant construction, and/or telecommunication related field or the equivalent in training and education.

3) Must possess a working knowledge of engineering practices and procedures.

4) Must possess knowledge of basic contract law.

5) Must possess knowledge of Telephone Group policies, procedures, and operations.

6) Must be knowledgeable in various PC-based computer programs used for scheduling and payments relative to construction projects.

?¬ Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience which would enhance the incumbent's success in the job:

1) Bachelor's degree preferred and 5 years experience in engineering, plant construction, and/or telecommunication related field.

2) Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of R.U.S. contract policies and procedures as well as the Construction Certification Program requirements.

3) Possess a general understanding of utility accounting practices.

4) Ability to interact with personnel internal and external to Telephone Group on a daily basis.

5) Must possess the ability to manage multiple projects and provide guidance to Telephone Group personnel at region and division.

6) Technical knowledge of C.O. equipment and test equipment.

7) Ability to read and follow technical specification for installation and/or repair.

8) Must be experienced at physically performing fiber optic fusion splicing, mechanical splicing, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer testing and Power Meter testing.

9) Ability to read and follow technical specification for installation and/or repair.
