Currently we are seeking individuals for the following position: Director, Financial Reporting (Corporate Accounting)
Job Responsibilities: The Director of Financial Reporting is responsible for leading the preparation all externally distributed financial reports. This includes the preparation of press releases, and information given to lenders, analysts, and others. This position will research new accounting requirements, establish technical accounting policies, and ensure compliance with SEC reporting and other technical accounting requirements. This position is also responsible for monitoring statutory reporting compliance.
Job duties: - Working with the Disclosure Committee - Lead the preparation of all externally distributed financial reports and information. - Maintain current knowledge of SEC, FASB and other authoritative pronouncements and analyze their impact on reporting. Assess proposed new accounting pronouncements and advise management on their impact. - Evaluate reporting and accounting policies and procedures to ensure best accounting practices and is in compliance with Sarbanes/Oxley and other regulatory initiatives. Coordinate activities with those of Director - Accounting Compliance. - Coordinate the reporting activities with other accounting and operations groups to assure that various reporting deadlines are met. - Provide technical accounting guidance to finance/accounting and other groups. - Coordinate all required subsidiary reporting compliance with management, outside advisors, and consultants, attorneys, accountants, etc. - Train assigned staff establish annual objectives and supervise and evaluate their work, maintaining appropriate knowledge of their activities and responsibilities. - Maintain timely communication with superiors, keeping them informed of all material financial and reporting issues. - Lead accounting efforts related to acquisitions and divestitures, including purchase accounting - Coordinate the development of the quarterly and year-end tax provisions with Corporate Tax and related review activities with external accounting firms. - Oversee accounting in complex areas such as impairment assessments for long lived assets and goodwill asbestos and other contingencies, pensions, OPEB, long-term disability and similar benefits.
Experience Level: 5+ Years
Requirements: Skills Required to be considered: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in external financial reporting, including experience in public accounting or extensive experience in technical financial reporting with large public, multinational company. CPA designation is required. We are looking for a strong leader with excellent communication skills who thrives in a high-growth environment. Strong command of technical accounting and SEC reporting requirements are essential.
