Job Description: Unix System Administrator
The position of UNIX System Administrator will work as part of a team environment administering different types of UNIX in both production and project support. This position will be responsible for configuring, installing, and maintaining AIX/Solaris server hardware and Operating Systems. The position requires a high level of technical skill. This team is a fast paced environment. This person will participate in companywide projects by assisting in the project plans, documentation, and execution of project tasks. This position will provide primary AIX/Solaris support and be responsible for all daily AIX/Solaris system maintenance tasks in a 24/7-production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and administer Solaris and AIX servers. - Performance tuning. - Planning and performing operating system changes. - Capacity planning and performance monitoring of servers and applications. - Coordinate the implementation of approved changes. - Work after hours as required and participate in on-call rotation. - Manage small to medium infrastructure projects. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Level: 4 Years
Requirements: Requirements:
- At least 3 years experience in a large, corporate data center environment performing UNIX Systems Administration of high-end production servers. - Expertise in system hardware and software installation, tuning, capacity planning, and maintenance. - Experience with enterprise storage and SAN solutions. - Must possess broad and deep technical knowledge and experience of the following operating systems: Solaris 8, AIX 5.x, and Linux Red Hat Advanced Server. - Experience with Veritas, Veritas NetBackup, HACMP, LPARs - Experience creating and maintaining UNIX Shell and Perl scripts. - Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP and other Internet protocols. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Data Center infrastructure and facility knowledge a plus. - Experience with vendors on maintenance and upgrades of data center equipment. - Ability to solve problems quickly and completely. - Experience with LDAP is a plus. - Previous experience with clustering, failover/recovery and load balancing strategies is a plus.
Qualified applicants must have a strong background in UNIX server administration (3-5 years). The ideal candidate will have wide-ranging experience.
