Technical Lead
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The position functions as an internal consultant to define business needs, translate those needs to technical specifications, and then provide a solution typically by customizing available package software, coordinating custom development performed by external or internal resources, and/or (on an exception basis) developing departmental applications using rapid development tools such as Microsoft Access.
MAJOR DUTIES:
The incumbent will have hands-on responsibilities in all phases of the application development lifecycle.
During the Requirements Phase, the incumbent will be responsible for translating business requirements into detailed technical specifications that may be used to select and/or develop applications.
During the Integration/Development Phase, the incumbent will be able to produce customized applications by either configuring packaged software, using packaged software?s application interfaces to create customized add-on features using tools such as VBA Script, or developing departmental applications using rapid development tools such as Microsoft Access, web authoring tools, and report writers.
During the Testing Phase, the incumbent will directly execute test plans and assist internal clients in the acceptance testing of systems.
During the Support Phase, the incumbent will function as a trainer and system administrator as needed.
This position will be heavily involved in the evaluation, selection and installation of new application software. The incumbent will work closely with the Director of IT on the execution of projects leading to the delivery of new IT applications and services.
QUALIFICATIONS/OTHER:
Bachelor?s degree required preferably Computer Science.
Three years experience in Information Technology with an emphasis on application development.
Expertise in Microsoft Access, SQL, Crystal Reports, VBA and/or Java Script.
Experience developing and executing test plans.
Ability to work toward a resolution with internal clients even under stressful conditions.
Excellent judgment and interpersonal skills.
Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to conduct training classes.
Possess the skills needed to work in a matrix organization environment.
Conducting oneself with the mind set of an independent consultant: approaching tasks with a ?can do? attitude, making each client feel that their needs are your sole focus, and creating opportunities for additional assignments through relationships built on a track record of delivering results.
