VoIP Telephony Network Systems Engineer
Direct Hire Permanent Position
Crofton MD area (some travel to Herndon VA area)
Our client is hiring for this VoIP Telephony Network Systems Engineer. Small team in established, but growing company.
-- 24x7 on call
-- 50-60 hours/week (very flexible schedule)
REQUIREMENTS
-- VoIP Telephony Networking, Architecture & Design
-- 5-8 years work experience.
-- Bachelor's degree.
-- Solid knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, FTP, SSH, SSL, SNMP.
-- Solid knowledge of Linux, Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory administration.
-- Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills and judgment, leveraging technical knowledge and institutional knowledge to quickly resolve problems.
-- Experience creating web-tools and scripts for system monitoring, automation and maintenance.
-- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
-- Ability to follow written/oral instruction and ?read between the lines?
-- Flexible attitude with regards to on-call availability.
EXPECTED EXPERIENCE
-- Supporting and maintaining network security solutions, commercial as well as open-source, including using OpenBSD firewalls.
-- Supporting and maintaining Virtual Private Networks or strong familiarity with SSL based VPN technologies.
-- Developing automation tools using such technologies as MS-DOS, VBScript or Perl.
-- Supporting or maintaining Postfix mail services. Experience with Linux or Linux distributions.
-- Configuring and deploying Dell and HP server products.
-- Working with 802.11 wireless networks.
-- Supporting and maintaining Linux Servers, including tuning and performance management.
-- Supporting and maintaining Telephony hardware such as Adtran, CAC, Cisco, Sangoma, NMS, Asterisk
-- Supporting and maintaining Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003 Standard servers.
ROLE
-- Coordinate procurement, install, configure and support the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet system or a segment of a network system for company main office and managed services installations.
-- Architect and recommend system and network sizing, and coordinate procurement efforts for deployment projects. Architect storage design and integration, Provide technical support during project execution.
-- Recommend Telecom, telephony and data circuit solutions for projects and installed systems.
-- Pre launch customer site evaluations and documentation.
-- Prepare systems cost estimates and cost-benefit analyses. Prepare technical reports on the operation of systems.
-- Onsite installation and documentation of pre-tested Customer systems and interface with customer regarding system and environment before, during, and after installation.
-- Pre-sales support.
-- Interface with multiple vendors regarding ongoing projects in house and customer related regarding contracted services and equipment.
-- Coordinate the work of support staff as necessary. Supervise other network support and client server specialists to plan, coordinate, and implement various measures.
