Job Description:

General Summary of Purpose
Provide support for all aspects of production in the Epi area. The position requires a solid understanding of the principles involved in semiconductor wafer processing and a good working level knowledge of the equipment used in thin film deposition as well as the characterization equipment used to monitor this process. This position is responsible for maintaining the quality of the existing Epi product, and conducting investigations into low yield and Epi process-related problems. The position requires the initiation and implementation of process and product changes that support yield improvement, quality improvement, new process introductions and cost reductions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Will work in conjunction with the Operations, Product Engineering, Maintenance and Quality management to address these specific areas:
1. Work with other Process Engineers and staff to support Epi production operation on a daily basis. This involves maintaining shop instructions, trouble-shooting production equipment, reporting of key area performance indices, and training key operators.

2. Identify and evaluate new process technologies to increase the efficiency and organization of the Epi area.

3. Responsible for clear communication of priorities, project status and results/reports to the staff.

4. Assist in product and process improvement engineering studies by evaluating process control wafers and process characterizations as needed. Assessment and disposition of Maverick product in the area, and performance of root cause analysis of low yield Epi product/Epi process problems.

5. Evaluations of processes and material changes that will reduce cost and improve yield/throughput. Work with Maintenance to improve equipment up-time. Work with Operations to reduce cycle time

6. Provide support for all Epi-related Documentation:
a. Shop instructions and OCAPs (revisions if necessary)
b. Process travelers ? (for New Products).
c. Control Plans, FMEA?s
d. Quality Improvement

Experience Level:
2 Years

Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education
Bachelor?s degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Physics.

Candidate should possess good communication skills and be aggressive in driving change. Candidate should be open to on-going education to keep current with industry trends

Experience
Minimum of 2 years experience in the semiconductor industry and first hand experience with wafer fab processing equipment such as FTIR, Four Point Probe, SRP, and Hg probe. Epi Engineering experience preferred.

Other Qualifications and Requirements
1. Ability to work well with other engineers and understand new processes and device concepts.
2. Strong data analysis and written communications skills.
3. Good deductive skills.
4. Team player.
