The client is looking for Business Analyst with extensive experience working in the Commodities/Energy Division.(2 positions)

Job Decription:
Within, the commodities department is a worldwide major actor on precious metals, base metals, oil, gas and power markets.
The IT team based in NYC where you will work is dedicated to the support and the development of this business line in the US, and is more precisely in charge of managing pricers, market s parameters, trades capture and position keeping system. Its principal objectives are to adapt the global in-house developed Information System called Meteor to the US gas and power financial markets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide guidance on the economics of the physical trading strategies and trades for the US Energy Market -Gas, Power and Oil to the business and the IT team.
- Role as an internal authority on the physical energy business products
- Towards building out the front office products, provide detail specifications to the development team.
- Support additional projects, as necessary to implement energy trading systems, including future enhancements
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Required/Must have:
- Experience in documenting functional specifications across a range of front to back office applications
- Experience working with complex database structures
- Experience with SQL
- Advanced proficiency with Excel
BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE:
- Mastery of the variables that need to be managed for all standard products in the US physical business.
- The ability to provide guidance on the economics of physical transactions to internal clients and team members
- Corresponding knowledge of risk analysis/management as it relates to physical and/or financial transactions.
COMPETENCIES:
Required/Must have:
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal clients and team members to enable the delivery of new functions quickly and effectively
- Ability to quickly understand new topics and the ability to clearly communicate the requirements
- Demonstrated ability to be creative in a dynamic fast paced environment
- Ability to prioritize work assignments in a dead line oriented role
- Self-initiator that can execute responsibilities with minimal supervision
PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 3to 5 years experience as a business analyst/liason
- 2-3+ Years Experience working in a US Gas, Power and Oil physical and financial trading environment
- Experience working with internal or commercial software vendors in this context
- Experience with market risk management
EDUCATION
Required/Must have:
- BS/BA in Engineering, Finance, Math, Statistics, Economics, Physics, Computer Science or other quantitative discipline
