Job Description: RESPONSIBILITIES: Seeking a Perl Developer 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Raleigh, NC. The qualified applicant will become part of the clients Postal Services and Solutions group. This is a contract to provide USPS Information Technology with professional, technical and support services to support the application development, database production support, help desk administration, LAN administration and various requirements for distributed technical support throughout the USPS. Software Developer needed to create and maintain Perl web-based applications running on multiple UNIX platforms. The custom applications extend application capabilities through use of it?s API and also store and retrieve information in Oracle Databases. Write custom code to enhance capabilities of HP Opsware through it?s API. Write middleware application to transfer data between DHCP database and HP Opsware. Utilize an entrepreneurial mindset to identify problems and opportunities on ambiguous data, develop creative solutions, and execute rapidly for maximum business effect. Provide guidance and mentoring regarding best practices and software industry standards, code design and implementation. Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm

Requirements: REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Local candidates preferred. Candidates MUST have experience using Perl as the primary language for development. Ability to learn custom API?s and interact with Oracle database is a must. Requires extensive web front end experience with heavy back end coding. Bachelor's degree (B.A) and 5+ years of experience in the Internet industry or in a related area. Required Skills: Perl, CGI Concepts, HTML, Linux, Apache, Oracle and UNIX Shell. At least 5 years' experience developing web-based applications, including working with session data storage, relational databases, caching, and inter-process communication. Significant knowledge of and experience in Perl programming. Exposure to standard Perl idioms, the ability to create your own class hierarchies, and familiarity with CPAN. Understanding of professional software development processes. Including familiarity with the cycles of requirements definition, issue tracking, version control, automated testing, deployment and maintenance. Linux/UNIX, Subversion or similar version control, HTML / CSS, basic JavaScript, MySQL, XML/XSL experience. Clear and articulate communication, both written and spoken.
