RESPONSIBILITIES:
The qualified applicant will become part of the client's Advanced Public Services Business Unit supporting the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Information Technology/Information Management Department under a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract providing a wide array of IT products and services. The applicant will provide operations & maintenance support to VMware Infrastructure 3.5 virtual frames across various networks/systems within the NAVAIR Enterprise. Roles and Responsibilities: Assist in qualifying new system resource requirements that are to be deployed as virtual servers. Participate in physical to virtual migrations to include planning, analysis, coordination, execution, and troubleshooting throughout the lifecycle of migration efforts. Provide a unique balance of customer and technical skills - customer skills to understand the impact and effect of change on any user or customer work experience and technical skills to ascertain various methods to accomplish the task that is in the best interest of the customer and the consolidation effort. Plan, develop, and coordinate the operation and maintenance of current and future virtual frames in accordance with the NAVAIR Enterprise VMware Server Virtualization Solution. Troubleshoot application, operating system(s), server hardware, network communications and storage communications problems with in the virtual frame. Apply diagnostic tools to trace and resolve technical problems. Analyze software and hardware constraints to plan for new user requirements (capacity planning). Monitor performance of systems for assigned functional area. Perform diagnostics on system operations to identify problems and trends, verify network performance, and identify potential user requirements. Track and resolve problems which impact continuing system operations and make recommendations for corrective actions required. Plan and advise on implementation of revised procedures, processes, methods or approaches. Plan and prepare for an internal server migration to migrate approximately 175 existing physical production servers and associated data to the NAVAIR Enterprise VMware Server Virtualization Solution across multiple security networks and windows domains. Requires occasional nights and weekends as well as on-call rotating schedule. Hours: 8am to 5pm

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: High school diploma. 10 years of related experience. Experience with VMware Infrastructure 3.5 or higher. Knowledgeable of hardware and software troubleshooting methods. Knowledgeable of networking and operation system hardening. Experience with DNS and IP addressing. Experience with Windows 2003/2008 Server. Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills. Ability to work unsupervised with minimal direction. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related technical field. 7 years of related experience. VMWare Certified Profession (VCP). CompTIA Security + certification.
