Job Description: Position Responsibilities:
Greeter/Inspector Assistant. Tasks will include Greeting customers, monitoring lines, assigning lanes, and monitoring vehicle progress into the inspection station Performing vehicle safety and emissions inspections, under the guidance motor vehicle inspector Interpretation of testing results, determination of the condition of motor vehicles and whether they are safe to drive on the roads and streets by rating them as pass, reject, and condemn Entry of motor vehicle inspection data into the computer, interpretation of data and retrieval of previous inspection records as required. Performs customer service at the service booth, processing payments (non-cash) Other related duties as assigned. Work conditions/environment: The greeter will work 8 hour shifts totaling 40 hours a week, which may include Saturdays; however the agency may institute 12 hours shifts during the course of this agreement. Uniforms will be assigned and must be worn on the job, and include cold weather and foul weather gear The work requires constant attention to detail, standing, walking, stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling and sometimes heavy lifting. Work is in a garage-type building with inspection lanes open at each end, exposing workers to extreme weather, vehicle temperatures, and vehicle emission fumes. Incumbent works around moving vehicles and vehicles operating at high speed on dynamometers, stationary and mobile equipment, and on concrete floors which can become slippery from oil, engine coolant, and other liquid and solid residue. As greeter, incumbent will be required to be outside the building much of the day, directing vehicles in line outside the property, in line on the property
Experience Level: 2 Years
Requirements: Skills/entry requirements: Strong customer service focus and attitudes; professional demeanor Verbally articulate, with good listening skills (languages in addition to English are a plus) Basic computer skills, including data entry, data retrieval, use of email and internet Basic understanding of operation/maintenance of motor vehicles, both domestic and foreign
