Job Description:
We are looking for a public affairs specialist II to work in Atlanta, GA.
The position will pay between $30-34 depending on experience.
The position comes with free health insurance, 10 federal paid holidays, 401k.
The contracted assignment will be for 1 year.
Bachelor's degree required, Master's a plus

Experience Level:
2 Years

Requirements:
The contractor shall be required to write and edit DMR talking points, message maps, and media material and prepare company staff for interviews. Additionally, the contractor shall escort embed media and staff the media operations center in building 19.
The contractor shall participate in the following media relations and communication functions in support of H1N1 goals, objectives, mission, and priorites:
1) Help plan and direct the interpretation and dissemination of scientific and technical information to the public-at-large through national, regional and/or local print and broadcast media.
2) Assist in answering routine press inquiries as well as track media calls concerning scientific research studies and public health campaigns condected by the divisions and programs served
3) Develop and distribute media relations products, including press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, etc., to build awareness of research and scientific findings resulting from studies and reports
4) Promote public health emergence or prevention messages to the public
5) Maintain liaison with and foster exchange of information with the divisions or programs served
6) Collaborate with public affairs officers assigned to state and local health departments, volunteer organizations, academic institutions and other processional and partner organizations to exchange scientific and health information, plan and implement news events, work together on conferences or meetings, support joint campaigns and announcements as needed and when appropriate.
7) Assist in the response to the large volume of press inquiries, set up interviews for media representatives with appropriate staff members, and initiate contact with media to release or convey a variety of public health topics. Promote public health messages through the media that are designed to improve and protect the health and safety of the general public, particularly among at risk populations. Perform necessary follow-up to ensure timely response is given to media to successfully meet their deadlines
8) Routinely write, prepare modify, revise and coordinate a variety of public health communication and media relations products including news releases and advisories, fact sheets, talking point messages, speeches, and other presentations, questions and answers, and other materials intended to accurately convey scientific research and data, communicate public health information and recommendations, provide guidance on policy related issues and/or program activities to a broad range of audiences including the media and general public.
9) Plan and coordinate national press activites,
10) Work with program, scientific, communication and health marketing staff at the division and program levels to anticipate and plan the release of key publications.
