Application Engineer
Develops functional specifications for software development projects and resolves complex application use issues.
Plans and coordinates the client involvement in completion of related IS tasks.
Receives and responds to support calls from users. Log calls in Help Desk system. Uses Help Desk system to document call status and ultimately, call resolution.
Plans and coordinates end user involvement in the completion of IS tasks.
Keeps management apprised of progress, plans and issues via weekly status reports.
The incumbent in this position is a technically skilled worker who participates in the design, development, and maintenance of computer software programs.
Essential Functions:
Writes functional and technical specifications for basic system modifications to moderately complex system modifications and enhancements and develops new programs for existing systems from technical and functional specifications, as assigned.
Performs the design/customization, implementation, maintenance and ongoing support of software packages within the organization.
Monitors ongoing Information System projects insuring adherence to established timetables and client satisfaction with the product.
Resolves moderately complex to complex technical issues.
Receives and responds to support calls from clients.
Researches support calls that are within area of expertise and passes on problems along to more senior level staff.
Performs unit testing of software by coordinating installation of modifications.
Keeps leadership apprised of progress, plans and issues via weekly status reports.
Acts as a client liaison in planning systems modifications. May assist clients from different departments in formulating policies, procedures, and functionality of new systems.
Applies identified new technologies to defined problems, under the general direction of the Team Leader, Application Architect, or Client Service Manager.
