Job Description:
Disaster Recovery Architect role
Location: Providence, RI
Duration: Contract to Perm

Must be Local to the area

TCML is currently staffing a position for a Disaster Recovery Architect. Ideal candidate will be responsible for helping to improve our clients DR capabilities.

Individual will be responsible for reviewing Disaster recover for both infrastructure and applications. The plan is to exercise Application Recovery Documentation (ARD) and Technical Recovery Documentation (TRD) in a lab environment to validate current documentation and processes. Deficiencies will be remediated whether thru documentation or improvement in recovery techniques or technologies, with the end goal of shortening recovery times to meet business requirements.

We are looking for a full time resource that will conduct DR test exercises, document findings, research alternative methods, and recommend improvements from a technology and / or process perspective.

Platforms/Applications
Wintel (IBM server platforms predominate), Unix ? Solaris specifically on Sun platforms, Oracle, Netback up, Websphere, various commercial and internally developed applications, others TBD.

Required Knowledge and Skill

A broad background exposure to various in infrastructure platforms, middleware, database, and application methodologies is required. Specific NetBackup suite experience is a hard requirement as is a background in leading and performing DR tests as well as a ?design for DR? exposure.

· A thorough understanding of the strategic importance of the alignment of business continuity management initiatives with essential business and IT services

· Demonstrated knowledge of business continuity management, disaster recovery, and crisis management concepts, strategies and solutions

· Demonstrated knowledge of and experience using enterprise class backup/recovery systems.

· Ability to prioritize risk and recovery requirements and make difficult operational decisions that may impact multiple business operations, and monitor and report on the results of those decisions to senior management

· Working knowledge of the critical business processes, products and services, as well as of the IT operations, applications and infrastructure

· Strong oral and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate business and IT risks and their impact on business productivity, profitability, reputation and brand effectively with a broad range of personnel at all levels and in all areas, as well as communicate their impact to business partners, service providers and other external stakeholders.

· Experience in writing disaster recovery scripts and documents.





Experience

Five to seven years' experience in implementing business continuity management and disaster recovery including:

· Architecture development

· Risk assessment and business impact analysis

· Recovery strategy development

· Plan exercising

· Experience in defining, implementing and enforcing risk-based standards, processes and procedures for responding to disruptions in business or IT operations



Minimum five to ten years' System Administration experience including:

· Proven experience administering Unix (Solaris) and Wintel servers

· Experience working with Oracle and MSSQL database management systems

· Experience working with web based applications, middleware, and web based technologies

· Proven experience recovering servers from tape and backup images

· Proven experience designing and implementing backup systems (preferably using Veritas Net Backup and Tivoli Storage Manager)

· Proven competency in executing large projects, on-time and within budget

· Experience working in a high-performance multidisciplinary workgroup or team to meet goals across multiple projects

· Experience in creating and defining new operational models and procedures, and explaining complex problems or situations
