We have over 5,000 consultants working at our clients today.
We currently have an opening with a client of ours in Providence, RI. This client is on the search for a SAN Administrator for their facility in Providence. This position is a contract opportunity with the possibility of extension. We are looking for someone who can interview immediately, and start within a reasonable amount of time.
Job Description:
The storage administrator is responsible for the daily operation of departmental centralized storage including arrays, switches, networks and applications supporting them. Individual is responsible for maintaining the SAN fabric and arrays, implementing new devices, performance monitoring, capacity monitoring and load balancing, and provisioning of storage. Assures that all security, auditing, and recovery/restart functions are properly operating, Works within the infrastructure services groups in resolving complex or critical problems, identifies areas or services where improvements are desirable, suggests method of achieving improvement; evaluates vendor supplied software, makes buy/build recommendations, and provides support and expertise to other departments.
Responsibilities:
· General storage administrative duties including rotating on call duties
· Act as product owner for one or more supported systems areas
· Remain current about new and evolving software and hardware products and technology
Decisions free to make:
? Resolution of problems involving storage platforms and supported applications, including initiation of service requests with storage vendors.
? Candidate will perform daily storage provisioning and maintain availability.
? Scheduling and coordination of preventative maintenance for storage platforms and supported applications.
? What functions are technically feasible and reasonable to implement as part of the storage platform or component environment.
? Whether particular software/hardware problems can/should be resolved as opposed to circumvented.
? Performance and tuning parameter changes.
Job Qualifications:
? Bachelor degree in technical area or equivalent
? EMC Proven Professional certification preferred
? 3-5 years of experience with storage or systems administration and engineering
? Ability to work independently on tasks and collaboratively on planning.
? Conceptual knowledge of all and in-depth knowledge of some of the following:
? SAN?s including EMC DMX/Symmetric ,CX Series and Centera
? Cisco and Brocade SAN Switches
? ISCSI
? Network Attached Storage
? Raid types and appropriate usage
? Backup and Recovery applications ? preferably experienced with Legato Networker
? Storage and Host multi-pathing applications
? Tape Libraries
? Data replication for disaster recovery
? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well in a group
? Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize activities
Other Information:
The person in this position is expected to work autonomously in a wide range of software and hardware environments. They must be able to quickly assimilate new technical information with little formal education. They must be able to develop detailed plans for installing software and hardware, and to execute those plans either alone or by leading a project team. The ability to troubleshoot and to develop fixes or circumventions under intense time pressure is critical.
