Job Title -  Systems Administrator / PC Support / Desktop Support
Location -  San Jose, CA, 95101
Duration - 6 months plus
Position Type - Contract (W2 only)
Rate -  DOE hourly   

My client a major telecom company is looking for a  Systems Administrator / PC Support / Desktop Support  Administrator to provide support to their PC systems. He/She  installs and supports PC hardware and software, manages assets, and provides appropriate documentation.  AS degree with MCDST, MCTS, MCSA, and A+ certifications preferred.

This position will be responsible for:

Maintenance of network schedule
File processing
Desktop support
Basic networking maintenance
General application support

Responsibilities:

Performs basic troubleshooting on software.
Restarts application servers.50% system monitoring and responds to 2-300 system messages per shift.
Troubleshoots client backup issues while keeping in compliance with corporate standards.
Provides regular status reporting (oral and written).
Ensures that requests for IS assistance (telephone, email, or direct) are responded to in a timely, courteous fashion.
Assures coverage during appropriate hours.
Communicates a clear customer service focus.
Provides first-call troubleshooting and resolution for simpler, repetitive issues (hardware, software, network, communications, and security) according to current target levels as defined by annual performance plans.
Researches and remains abreast of new hardware and software.
Provides customer follow up to assure quality and timeliness of problem resolution.
Assures problems are escalated appropriately. Maintains a high level of attention to security issues including passwords, access rights and privileges, confidentiality, as well as viruses and other threats.
Provides regular status reporting (oral and written).
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

AS degree with MCDST, MCTS, MCSA, and A+ certifications preferred
IT/Desktop Support experience required
Server/infrastructure support experience preferred
Strong Knowledge of PC related hardware and software, desktops, laptops
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Operating systems
Strong customer focus and customer service skills
Excellent communication skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Takes initiative and has positive attitude
Strong troubleshooting skills
Must have flexibility
