? Client is seeking a self motivated scientist to develop a novel method for measuring the functions of neutrophils and macrophages.
? The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out all laboratory activities related to the project; among other tasks, this will include animal handling, injections, and various analyses of primary immune cells.
? In addition, the resource is expected to be familiar with relevant literature, provide creative intellectual input into the project, and contribute to project discussions and decisions based on results.
? The resource will present progress updates to the project team, and will also be involved in writing up and submitting results for publication where appropriate.
? To accomplish the goals of the project, the successful candidate must be able to work independently and to troubleshoot technical aspects of scientific projects ? a strong record of performance in these areas is necessary.
? It is important that the candidate have experience working with rats as a model system, and he or she must be proficient at animal handling, injections, and sample collection.
? Competitive candidates must have expertise in flow cytometry, and expertise with Accuri and Canto II cytometers is preferred.
? A background in innate immunity and a solid understanding of the biology of neutrophils and macrophages is considered ideal.
? A Masters or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field is a plus but other candidates will be considered.
MOST CRITICAL SKILLS:
1) Experience working with rats: handling, injections, euthanasia, sample collection;
2) must be proficient in flow cytometry and be able to independently collect and analyze flow cytometry data (experience with Canto II and Accuri flow cytometers is preferred but not required);
3) background in immunology and particularly the biology of macrophages and neutrophils preferred.
