Job Description: Our Fortune 10 client is looking for an Accountant for a 8+ month position in Scottsdale, AZ
SUMMARY: Able to work independently with limited guidance on Accounting special projects and ad hoc requests. Ensure assigned journal entries, account reconciliations, close schedules and ad hoc requests are prepared accurately and within the agreed upon deadline. Ensure data is validated and processes are tested in accordance with project guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Gather financial requirements, validate and test financial data related to loan conversion. Validate and test financial data relating to upcoming FAS 167 project. Prepare assigned journal entries, account reconciliations and close schedules accurately in accordance with accounting principles and within the agreed upon deadline.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles in the areas of assets, liabilities and equity accounts. At least five years of accounting experience in preparing journal entries and related accounting schedules. Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills desired. Ability to communicate effectively, raise issues timely and solve issues. Ability to work well with others, handle multiple assignments and maintain composure during stressful times.
***************************** Role Summary - Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports. Analyzes financial reports and records and makes recommendations. Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. Coordinates accounting matters with other departments, locations and divisions.
Essential Responsibilities: ? Prepares and reviews monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and account closings. Provides analysis and accounting for productivity expenses, management fees, and inter-company loans. ? Prepares monthly and quarterly balance sheet analysis schedules. Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting schedules. ? Drives process improvements and simplification initiatives. Works with asset management and risk organization on exposure questions. ? Responsible for all aspects of accounting for lease and loan portfolio. ? Prepares forecasts, budgets and exposure analysis.
Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Requirements: ? Bachelor?s Degree in accounting with 5+ years of accounting experience. ? Must be able to meet the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
Desired Characteristics: ? Five + years of general ledger experience preparing/reviewing account reconciliations or schedules for asset, liability and equity accounts. ? Strong understanding of accounting principles, consolidation concepts and experience in preparing financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. ? Certified Public Accounting license and/or two years of previous auditing experience strongly desired. ? Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. ? Demonstrated leadership skills and strong communication skills. ? Flexible with extended working hours during special projects and peak periods. ? Demonstrated proficiency in Excel spreadsheet applications. ? Experience with Oracle general ledger or ACBS loan system a plus.
