Reference Number: BA_BioChem Job Description: A Fortune 500 Pharmaceutical client of ours is looking for a Biochemist - II based in Boston, MA Qualifications: ? PhD and/or BS/MS in biochemistry, biophysics or related discipline ? Substantial experience in protein purification and characterization ? Evidence of a sound understanding protein biochemistry and hands on experience of different affinity, ion exchange and size exclusion chromatography procedures using AKTA FPLC systems ? Experience with protein characterization using SDS-PAGE, Western blot, UV/Vis/ fluorescence spectroscopy and various activity assays ? Strong communication skill is a must ? Experience with cloning, expression vector and baculovirus generation, protein expression from different expression systems are helpful ? Additional helpful experience includes the use of automated liquid handlers, micro plate readers and data analysis software such as Sigma Plot and Graph Pad Prism. Experience with instrumentation and high throughput methods are plus. Overall 3-5 years experience. Responsibilities: This position will support the client's drug discovery efforts within the Department of In Vitro Sciences. The successful candidate will participate in generation and characterization of various proteins for in vitro HTS assays with an emphasis on biochemical screens of kinases, proteases and other structural proteins. Along with strong involvement at the bench, the candidate will also be involved in monitoring outsourced projects, writing clear SOPs and documentation of all experimental details.
