Description: Seeking a Technical Writer to assist in The responsibilities of the development and publishing of Training Manuals, Online Help files. Experience with DMV (Dept of Motor Vehicles/Transportation) is a plus Deliverables; 1. Prepare Online help files for Traffic Record System applications: * DMV-349 Crash Report Instruction Manual. * Computer Base Training Module (CBT). * Traffic Engineers Analysis System. * Expected to do a transfer of knowledge prior to the end of the contract. 2. Prepare training and user support manuals for product installation and training for the Traffic Records Applications and procedures. 3. Assist with the development of training programs and material for business users and support staff for Traffic Records applications and coordinate the publication and dissemination of this training information. 4. Participate in meetings and document discussions. 5. Prepare electronic and hard copy repositories for all updated and created Traffic Records documents and specifications. 6. Prepare documents that will be accessible via NCDMV website(s). 7. Prepare the documentation process for the Traffic Records Section. 8. Publish all the designated documents according to guidelines and recommend the appropriate tools from the approved list of tools for publication of documents. 9. Adhere to the policies and procedures established.
Requirements. 1. A minimum of five (5) years of technical writing experience. 2. A minimum of three (3) years of technical writing experience for large-scale information technology applications or projects. 3. Experience managing the documentation process for information technology projects, including online help files, training manuals, state level report publishing and computer based interactive training tool development. 4. Knowledge of technical writing principles practices and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), drawing/graphic tools (e.g., VISIO), publishing tools (Microsoft Publisher), RoboHelp, Doc-to-Help, Macromedia Flash, and web services (e.g., Internet Explorer). 5. Strong technical writing and editing skills, with ability to absorb business information quickly from a variety of sources. 6. Graduation from a four-year college or university. 7. Experience working with a wide range of management, technical staff, and user groups. 8. Varied experience with other technical products used to develop and manage technical documents, including HTML, Adobe Reader or other PDF reader/creation tools, and online help product(s). 9. Excellent oral and written communication skills
