Description:
Function as Desktop Engineer/Application Developer supporting desktop computers and applications as part of the service used to deliver and maintain a world-class desktop environment to the client. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
** Web-based development, implementation and maintenance of APE, the primary PC Fulfillment tool for Desktop Management Services (DMS).
** Development, support and maintenance of system tools such as the Zero Touch Tool, USMT, Ghost, etc., required by the PC Fulfillment process.
** Development, support and maintenance of desktop environment tools such as the DMS Local Admin Password Service and the Local Admin Group Cleanup Utility.
** Support and maintenance of hardware driver sets required to support the standard platforms delivered as part of the PC Fulfillment process.
** Create Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures as required by management.
** Assist with testing and deployment of required hot-fixes, patches and updates needed to maintain a standardized, qualified and secure desktop environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
** At least 5 years Information Technology technical experience.
** Extensive development experience in the Microsoft XP environment creating applications and tools for use by a technical support staff.
** In-depth knowledge and experience using Microsoft Visual Basic, VB Script, Java scripting, ASP, XML, .NET, SQL Query, and batch files
** In-depth knowledge and experience developing applications for Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS).
** Detailed knowledge and understanding of the following:
o Microsoft Windows operating systems including Windows 2000 and specifically Windows XP
o Desktop management practices including registry management, Active Directory and log-on scripts.
o System build technologies including sysprep, Ghost, etc.
o Network stacks, driver models and Microsoft Framework.
o Toolsets used for Applications Packaging and Quality Assurance testing.
** Demonstrated ability to communicate, interface, and negotiate with individuals and groups from across the organization ensuring unified service delivery to internal/external customers.
