Job Description 1. Job Title: Cage Wash Technician 2. Career Ladder Level: T1 3. Job Purpose: The Cage Wash Technician?s primary responsibility is to learn and apply the basics of equipment and facility sanitization in compliance with client requirements.
4. Organizational Relationships: Reports to: CM Manager
Working relationships: Daily interactions will primarily be with Facility Managers and other CM technicians or other contractors who conduct animal husbandry and technical support across the CM facilities. Other interactions may include customers from Research and Development. This role requires close supervision by more senior staff for all assigned duties and training.
5. Major Duties: a. Learn and perform proper operation of cage wash equipment, including maintenance and accurate documentation. b. Properly obtain dirty equipment and caging from assigned areas. c. Clean and provide animal housing and associated materials/equipment for assigned areas. d. Maintain and perform housekeeping in cage wash areas. e. Perform and accurately document sanitation duties within assigned facility support areas and animal rooms. f. Learn and strictly adhere to all departmental, regulatory and Client policies including departmental SOPs and guidelines. g. Develop and maintain appropriate and quality communication, teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation. h. Basic computer knowledge such as email, online forms, web-based training and other basic programs.
6. Role Development: Must complete all required training in a timely manner. Must maintain and update training documentation. Developing knowledge of proper equipment operation and sanitation will be required. Interpersonal skills to effectively work with colleagues in the workgroup must be developed.
7. Qualifications: a. Entry-level position; prior Pfizer experience preferred but not required. Experience working with animals preferred. b. Ability to perform repetitive physical activities such as: pushing and pulling racks of caging, lifting and moving water bottles, lifting and moving 50 pound bags of feed and bedding, reaching, stooping and bending. An Enhanced Security Clearance, a Functional Capacity Evaluation and a negative PPD test will be required. c. High school or GED required.
