Job Description: Location: IRAQ
Salary: $176,000K for qualified candidates US CITIZENS
We are currently seeking qualified linguists to work in overseas locations, such as Iraq and Afghanistan to support translation and interpretation requirements for the US Army.
Successful applicants must be willing to live and work in harsh conditions co-located with U.S. Army. Meet the minimum language proficiency for interpretation and translation skills. Applicants must be fluent in the target language and meet minimum standards for English proficiency. Successfully pass oral proficiency test and written examination from the target language into English and English into the target language. Meet medical deployment requirements. Meet the U.S. Governmental's background security check and counterintelligence/force protection screening.
Candidate will provide linguistic support for military operations and interpret during interviews, meeting, and conferences. The candidate will interpret and translate written and spoken communications and transcribe and analyze verbal communications. Candidates will be responsible for analyzing foreign language documents for key information. Candidate will provide input to reports as needed and will be required to work 12-hour shifts and in excess of 60-hour weeks in order to provide continuous contract linguist support. Linguists must be available for worldwide deployment as dictated.
Required Experience includes the following:
Minimum required: An excellent command of Arabic or Pashto language. Strong verbal and written American English skills (grammar, vocabulary, idioms, spelling) because linguist work products are prepared in English. A 3/3 (i.e., native) or higher Arabic or Pashto listening/reading comprehension rating according to the ILR scale and as measured by the DLPT or comparable language test vehicle. Possession of a current U.S. passport. The ability to be obtain or maintain a security clearance. A willingness to travel/work in Iraq. Ability to deal unobtrusively with the local populace.
Desired Skills will include the following: Thorough knowledge of cultural, economic, geopolitical, issues of the Mid East and Arab-speaking countries. Operational experience as linguist in support of government operations. Ability to operate standard and specialized office automation equipment to process foreign language material.
