Description:
Position will require up to 50% travel; primarily CONUS with some OCONUS as well. Evaluates, recommends, installs, and supports local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) hardware and software. Evaluates LAN/WAN hardware and software requirements and capabilities related to user needs, and makes recommendations. Establishes and documents standards for network architecture, and plans and coordinates total network integration. Coordinates installation of required hardware, installs application software programs on LAN or WAN. Sr. Tech will maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Coordinates third-party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoot and work with LAN/WAN administrator.
Required Skills:
Experienced with one or more of the following: routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, gateways, installation of Fiber and Cat5 cabling. Strong writing and communications skills.
Must hold or have held within the past 24 months an active TS SCI with Full Scope/Lifestyle Polygraph security clearance.
Desired Skills: LAN/WAN installation & troubleshooting experience; familiar with T1/E1, ATM, xDSL, SONET, DWDM, VOIP, TCP/IP, SS7 signaling.
Required Education (including Major): BA Information Technologies and minimum 6 years relevant experience, or equivalent experience or certifications.
