Project Description:
The Production Support Middleware team maximizes production infrastructure availability and enables operational resiliency through the Prevent > Detect > Respond operating model. The onshore resource will manage and operate the production middleware infrastructure with a focus on WebLogic and other JEE technologies. The manager is looking for a Senior level resource that can help to implement infrastructure changes and take initiatives from beginning to end. However this person will also need to provide Production Support with 1 week of on-call coverage every 4-5 weeks (mostly weekend back-up support calls)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond to production and pre-production issues within standard SLA. Provide on-call support as part of the existing PS_MW rotation. Take leadership role in recommending and implementing infrastructure solutions end to end. Contribute to production support team projects. Identify and document infrastructure risk and implement remediation plans. Automate repeatable processes. Provide root cause analysis and follow up with planning, testing and implementing solutions including coordination with resources from other teams. Run maintenance procedures and scripts for a wide range of technologies including JEE, Messaging, Sharepoint, Document Management and third party vendor tools. Communicate business impact to users and escalate to management resources as required. Automate repeatable processes and provide knowledge transfer for junior team members. Submit and justify recommendations to improve infrastructure environment and manage through the change control process. Work with platform, database, operations and build and application teams to implement infrastructure changes and support the production environment. Contribute in reviews and development of procedures to improve production support team workflows and processes. Responsible for providing senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise's overall systems architecture. Facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems and applications across the enterprise. Reviews, advises and designs standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact on the enterprise business process and goals. Develops and documents the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards. Assists in the development of and manages an architecture governance process. Provides technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate. Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise's architecture needs.

Requirements: Tools/Technologies/Skills/Experience:
Ability to take a holistic view of production support: (Required). Coordinate root cause analysis with multiple teams including Unix Admin, network, application and database support teams: (Required). Provide guidance on operational procedures: (Required). Extensive administration experience supporting WebLogic Server 9.2 including installation, configuration, monitoring and deploying application: (Required). Strong knowledge and ability to troubleshoot complex issues for JDBC, EJB, JMS, JTA, JNDI, execution threads and memory including GC issues: (Required). Ability to write and understand scripts for shell scripting (ksh and perl) and WLST (WebLogic Scripting Tool): (Required). Ability to navigate through WebLogic Server mbean tree and find configuration and runtime information: (Required). Experience with Java bugs, performance tuning and GC parameters: (Required). Experience with other JEE products such as Tomcat: (Required). Experience with web servers (IIS, Sun Java Web Server and Apache) and web content (HTML, JSP and Servlets): (Required). Experience with platform, database, operations and build and application teams to implement infrastructure changes and support the production environment: (Required). Exposure to IBM MQ Series or other messaging technologies: (Required). Experience with third party monitoring tools such as Foglight, Compuware and Patrol: (Required). Experience with configuration management tools such as mValent: (Required). Experience with integrating applications with LDAP or Active Directory: (Required). Experience with integrating applications with job schedulers such as Maestro: (Required). Exposure to system level High Availability solutions such as Veritas VCS: (Required). Experience with UNIX and/or Linux system administration initiatives to determine impact of system and database changes to middleware environment: (Required).
