Job Description:
Our Client is a large Investment Trading Firm.
Interview Process: Phone screen and then face to face with hiring team. If invited for an in person interview, the candidate will be required to come in twice to meet with day and night teams. The hiring decision is made collectively by the Manager and team.
Project Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Global Operations, the Computer Operator will work as part of a multi-shift environment, supporting 7x24x365 Global Operations. The successful candidate is one who can work independently, on any night shift, performing all the duties of a Computer Operator including monitoring nightly batch cycle via Tivoli Work Scheduler (TWS), monitoring systems, performing backups and restores of files and files systems on Solaris and Windows operating systems. It is critical for the candidate to be a self learner and be able to work based on learning from our client's documentation. There will be minimal training provided, thus we prefer a self-paced and self-motivated candidate.
The candidate must have a proven track record demonstrating progress and responsibility in his/her career, along with very good verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility in working hours is highly desired - three , 12-13 hr nights, either Sun, Mon, Tues OR Thurs, Fri, Sat are preferred on a rotational basis. The schedule requires either Saturday or Sunday nights, depending on the rotation.
Tivoli Work Scheduler or TWS.
Backup experience, Client uses CommVault, but any backup tools experience will suffice.
Candidate must pass full background check prior to in person interview.
Candidate must be self motivated and willing to learn. This is a very complex and highly customized environment.
Candidate must be able to work from 7-7, Sun, Mon, Tues or Thurs, Fri Sat. Ideally be able to rotate both shifts, but would consider candidates that can only work a fixed schedule if it works for the rest of the team (candidates must have flexibility to work either location as needed based on priorities).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Chosen candidate will likely work in a team for an extended period of time prior to running his/her own console.
Might consider a Mainframe Operator if they have EXTENSIVE TWS Experience.

Requirements:
Tools/Technologies/Skills/Experience:
5+ Years of experience in a Computer Operator position: (Required).
Experience with Scheduling systems -Tivoli Work Scheduler (TWS) Maestro Job Scheduler: (Required).
Experience with Monitor Backup and Recovery software (such as CommVault or NetBackup) CommVault is the most important one but experience with any other will do: (Required).
Experience with Systems Monitoring (such as HP OpenView, BMC Patrol, or CA Unicenter): (Required).
Knowledge of Cluster management software (such as Veritas Cluster Service(VCS) or VMWare): (Preferred).
Knowledge of Unix/Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems: (Required).
Experience writing basic UNIX Commands: (Preferred).
Strong written and verbal communication skills: (Required).
Ability to multi-task several mission critical tasks with little supervision: (Required).
Ability to Monitor Nightly Job Cycles and understand and follow the proper escalation policies: (Required).
Knowledge of industry standards and practices of a multi platform data center: (Required).
Flexibility in working hours: (Highly Desirable).
