Project Description:
The Senior Systems Engineer will contribute to the overall engineering, design, build, and high level support of all existing and new Windows Server infrastructure. As a senior member of the team, the successful candidate will need to work closely with our internal clients to develop consensus and find solutions to problems facing their business constituents.
The candidate MUST be very strong technically with ESX. The candidate also should have strong experience working in a mission critical, high stress environments. Financial Services experience is strongly preferred. Experience handling an on call rotation (every 8 weeks) and understanding how to handle crisis situations are also mandatory.
Job Responsibilities:
Monitor windows environment for anomalies and errors, reporting and escalation of issues. Provide the required daily support, maintenance, and management of the platforms. Provide Level III support and repair, as well as escalation to the Business Application Group and/or Operations. Manager enterprise applications responsible for server builds, patch management, virtual machine management, virus scanning, etc. Develop and maintain high standards in establishing procedures and policies to address routine jobs and certain resolution protocols. Meet or exceed SLA obligations consistently and on an ongoing basis, allow for accurate metrics to measure response time, meet BCP requirements for offsite access, and reduce the time needed to address hardware/software failures.
In addition, candidate must have experience with a 200+ server environment. Experience doing just conversions and upgrades is not enough - candidates MUST know the bits and bytes of VMWare. Finally, the candidate must be polished and professional as attending meetings with Senior Management as well as presenting to Senior Management are job requisites too.
Keys to this Position:
1. ESX expertise In-depth Knowledge of VMware architecture and hands on experience with V-motion, ESX Ranger and other virtual management software. Experience with the most recent version of ESX is desirable. 2. Our client would also like the candidate to have strong Windows Systems Engineering experience that includes troubleshooting and problem solving skills. Our client is presently using Windows 2003 server and will be migrating to Windows 2008. The candidate needs to have 2003 server (2008 would be a plus). 3. The candidate should have strong experience working in a mission critical environment. Financial Services is strongly preferred. 4. Experience handling an on call rotation (every 8 weeks) and understanding how to handle crisis situations is mandatory. 5. Ideally the candidate should come from an environment similar to that of our Client's (900 Windows Servers globally). The candidate should have minimally managed 300 servers. 6. Strong Active Directory and Microsoft Clustering skills are a big plus.

8+ years of managing a Windows Server environment (Windows 2003 Server): (Required). In-depth Knowledge of VMware architecture and hands on experience with V-motion, ESX Ranger and other virtual management software: (Required). Extensive experience with Microsoft Clustering: (Required). Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve independently: (Required). Ability to design and build an Active Directory infrastructure: (Required). Hands on management of an Active Directory infrastructure: (Required). Proficiency in DNS, DHCP and other naming services: (Required). Experience in Server management with an emphasis on HP servers: (Required). In-depth Knowledge of disk management with SAN, NAS and local storage with an emphasis on disk layout and performance: (Required). Strong systems engineering skills with an emphasis on enterprise scale architecture: (Required). Experience with LINUX skills: (Desired). Understanding of High Availability, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery concepts as they relate to Open Systems architecture: (Required).
