Job Description:
****Candidate must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a DOD
Secret security clearance.****

We are looking for the following requirements for the position of
Communications Engineer on the Network Support Team. Team primary
responsibilities lie in the configuration, management, support and
maintenance of the US Army Accessions Command Recruiting Services
Network (RSN). This team provides 24X7 support for all RSN
communications equipment (routers, switches, hubs, terminal servers,
wireless access points, VPN concentrators, and UPS) and circuits
connected to the network while providing on call coverage on a monthly
rotation cycle. Candidate would be required to evaluate new technical
concepts and solutions for enterprise level applications and provides
formal evaluations of products and services and provides
recommendations. Also responsible for evaluating and analyzing the
performance of communications services, defining communication baselines
and communications service levels for the enterprise. Candidate will
be responsible for designing/implementing network solutions, configuring
and troubleshooting network devices, and managing network security.
This individual will be required to perform Level III support to other
team members and resolve complex technical problems/issues. Candidate
would be responsible for the full documentation of the enterprise
communications architecture to include drawings, diagrams, operations
manuals and any other applicable data. The individual may also be
called upon to travel which may involve lifting equipment to complete an installation.

Requirements:
ESSENTIAL NON-TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent client facing skills.
- Ability to work in a rapid-development environment.
- Displays strong ability to work independently but also provide
mentorship to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with customer in analyzing
requirements and resolving problems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, after normal duty hours including
weekends and holidays.
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance.

******MANDATORY TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:******
- Eight (8) to 10 years working experience with Cisco Internet
Operation System (IOS), Cisco security devices and wireless networking.
- Certification as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco
Certified Design Professional (CCDP), and/or Cisco Certified Network
Associate (CCNA) are required.
- Strong network technology concepts and experience, especially
Ethernet & IP.
- In-depth understanding of software installation and operations as
pertaining to network operations and impact to infrastructure.
- LAN switching & routing & Ethernet networks along with IP routing,
configuration, troubleshooting of switched & routed networks.
- Extensive experience in WLAN, extended wired LAN with Wireless using
wireless access points.
- Implemented and configured WLAN 802.11x, SNMP, VPN, TCP/IP, ATM,
Frame Relay, ISDN, DSL, Broadband, OSPF, RIP, EGIRP, BGP, Ethernet.
- Familiarity with IEEE standards for LAN and wireless LAN.
- Design, development, deployment, problem identification and
remediation, and on-going support of a very large WAN environment.
- Extensive experience with Fiber Optics, Cisco Routers, Cisco
Switches, Gateway, DTE & DCE equipment
- Working experience on data communication equipment - Network
Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Cable Tester, ATM Tester, optical power
meter, etc.
- Experience to design and implement structure cabling CAT5e, Fiber,
end points, etc.
- Ability to design and implement leading-edge WLAN solutions 802.11x.
- Knowledgeable of WLAN system/product using Fast and Gigabit Ethernet
traffic.
- Strong understanding and extensive working knowledge of Cisco, 3Com,
Alcatel, Juniper, Alteon, Foundry, Cacheflow, Aironet, VPN, Pix
products.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, fast technology learner and ability
to independently perform tasks.
- Excellent communication skills to interface Network Operation Groups,
Engineering, customer, vendor and third party personnel.
- Provide engineering planning and management support.
- Determine optimal routing through the network.
- Ability to troubleshoot network performance problems.
- Determine appropriate circuit types and capacities.
- Develop conceptual solutions for migration from an ATM core backbone
to a MPLS-based infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in computer/network security,
network vulnerability, and network risk management, network security
software, IP addressing schemes, penetration testing.
- Understanding of shell scripting for development of network attack
tools and techniques as well as daily tasks.
- Ability to perform system engineering tasks such as
identifying/refining new requirements, design, and test.
- Must possess excellent written, oral, and interpersonal
communications skills and comfortable working with customers to
understand requirements and ability to perform briefings on proposed
technical solutions.
- Ability to provide 3rd level technical support to end-users and
systems administrators.
- Develop and recommend strategies that will increase reliability,
availability, and up time.

OPTIMUM CANDIDATE WILL ALSO POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
- Solaris UNIX, Windows 2000/2003/XP networking a plus.
- Prior experience in process/change management improvement initiatives
(ISO 9000 and ITIL) is a plus.
- Technical documentation skills and the ability to create written
reports such as solution recommendations and providing background
information on infrastructure/enterprise technical issues.
