Job Description: The Programmer/Analyst II is responsible for providing technical expertise for IT programming projects. The Programmer/Analyst II is responsible for using project management methodologies and System Life Cycle disciplines to ensure successful implementation of projects in support of corporate initiatives. The Programmer/Analyst II participates on development efforts by performing detailed analysis, developing detailed designs, and by programming and testing applications.
Overtime and holiday work are required and a condition of employment.
Experience Level: 2 Years
Requirements: A. Bachelor?s degree in Information Technology or equivalent in experience and education.
B. Minimum of two years experience designing and developing business applications.
C. Experience with methodology based development.
D. Understanding of application design principles.
E. Understanding of application architecture.
F. Ability to navigate and work on multiple development platforms including IBM iSeries and IBM pSeries systems.
G. Extensive SQL knowledge. Proficient with relational databases including Oracle and DB2.
H. Experience with various development paradigms including procedural code such as COBOL and JAVA, report writing tools such as Cognos and Crystal Reports, and ETL tools such as Informatica.
I. Ability to work as part of a team or to be self-directed as required.
J. Good organizational and project management skills.
K. Good oral and written communication skills.
L. Knowledge of health care business preferred.
M. Ability to maintain confidentiality and assume accountability.
N. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and overtime as needed.
O. Understands the importance of maintaining the physical and technical security and privacy of protected health information (PHI).
Specific Duties A. Project Management (10%) o Follows Project Management methodology.
B. Application Development (60%) o Demonstrates good analytical abilities and technical skills. o Prepares detailed system and program specifications. o Ensures coding standards meet efficiency performance standards. o Manages testing of all system functions. o Prepares and provides user training and system documentation.
C. Customer (20%) o Translates customer needs into requirements. o Manages changes to requirements. o Ensures customer requests for information are addressed and followup occurs. o Gains customer satisfaction.
D. Business Knowledge (10%) o Understands business objectives of departments. o Evaluates and recommends application systems that can improve department?s environment. E. Maintains confidentiality and uses only the minimum amount of protected health information (PHI) necessary to accomplish job related responsibilities.
