Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY The Network Engineer has responsibility for assisting the Chief Technology Officer in ensuring the smooth operation of all computer systems and resources at all the locations (domestic and international). This position reports to the CTO and will work closely with the help desk and network infrastructure vendors. RESPONSIBILITIES ? Support and monitoring of data center hardware (servers, firewalls, switches, routers) and networks (local area and wide area networks) for all offices (New York, Bellagio, Nairobi and Bangkok). ? Support with the deployment of new applications into production. ? Interacts with internal clients to resolve escalated help desk issues. ? Assists in the implementation and maintenance of hardware and systems software. Performs systems administration functions for servers, including administering system-level security procedures ? Establishes and maintains user accounts, assigns file permissions and establishes password and account policies ? Installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in a production environment ? Reviews performance logs and monitors system performance ? Troubleshoots and resolves system hardware, software and communications problems ? Performs network administration functions for interoperating LAN/WAN, including the maintenance of network functionality and the installation, upgrade, configuration, integration and troubleshooting of network software and network devices ? Fine-tunes hardware and software to optimize network performance and functionality ? Administers the firewall ? Installs, configures and tests software packages; ? Establishes and maintains documentation of the network and systems architecture ? Escalation point for complex issues that cannot be solved by the help desk CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS ? Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS ? Four year undergraduate degree, with a concentration in information technology or computer science preferred ? A minimum of five years of experience in the information technology field ? Demonstrated technical skills in client/server environments (Microsoft), wide area networks, local area networks, email services, internet services, telecommunications and remote system management ? Experience in the following technologies: TCP/IP, firewall security, VPN (client and site-to-site), data backup, virus protection, network and system monitoring, network switching and routing, disaster recovery, software distribution and portal software ? Strong knowledge of the following major systems and applications and network hardware used by the Foundation: Windows Vista, Active Directory, Exchange 2003, Office 2007, routers, switches, firewalls and VPN concentrators ? Working knowledge of the following secondary systems and applications used by the Foundation: SQL 2005, IIS, SharePoint, Dynamics, Sitescope, Veritas Backup Exec, McAfee Antivirus Suite, SMS 2003, Radius server and Blackberry ? Flexibility to travel when necessary.
