JOB DESCRIPTION:
Analyze high-cost systems and components and determine potential machine design modifications for life cycle cost improvements. Investigate and evaluate machine design modifications for improved productivity. Propose, develop and monitor both field and laboratory experiments to determine the effectiveness of new designs. Initiate Engineering Change Requests (ECR) for appropriate machine changes including relevant justification. Analyze failures that have caused machine downtime and develop methods or design improvements to improve reliability. Monitor status of projects and ECR¡¦s and serve as a resource to ensure customer needs are understood. Assist in definition and implementation of improved preventive and predictive maintenance methods and techniques. Assist with the development of formal training courses for managerial and field operations personnel. Participate in cross-functional product development teams to communicate customer requirements and desires.
Ability to learn and work with SLC 500, Logix 5500, and AB540 control systems. Identify controls criteria and create control algorithms and specifications form machine operation/performance specifications. Create machine programs to the PLC and HMI control systems. Support the electrical department in identifying/selecting appropriate controls hardware to meet performance criteria.
Verify proper operation and function of controls design and programs on machines.
BACKGROUND REQUIRED:
?X BS Electrical or Controls Engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
?X 5-10 years applicable experience in the controls programming and electrical engineering field
DESIRED SKILLS:
Interest in industrial control system software design (PLC & HMI)
Allen-Bradley PLC/HMI software programming and hardware experience
Control Logix and RSView programming experience
Experience with Design of Experiments
Six Sigma Methodologies
Machine safety processes
Total Productive Maintenance
Heavy equipment electro-hydraulic design and operation
Field troubleshooting
Project management
