The 6 Mistakes of Man, The Outsourced Life and Closing Questions

The 6 Mistakes of Man

More than 2,000 years ago, the Roman orator Cicero wrote the "6 mistakes of man". Every time I read them, I'm amazed by their simple wisdom. Read the list below and see if there are some that apply to you in your work as a recruiter:

  1. The delusion that individual advancement is made by crushing others.

  2. Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it.

  3. The tendency to worry about things that cannot be changed.

  4. Refusing to set aside trivial preferences.

  5. Neglecting development and refinement of mind and not acquiring the habit of reading and study.

  6. Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do.

The Outsourced Life

There?s a trend that's catching steam with small business owners and recruiters who want more time and freedom and that is to start outsourcing many of the mundane tasks in their lives. ?Outsourcing life? allows you to show up for work refreshed charged and ready to hit the phones and make money. Here are some examples of tasks that can be outsourced:

  • Scheduling / Appointment Setting

  • Restaurant Reservations

  • Messenger / Time Services

  • Travel / Transportation Bookings

  • 3rd Party Customer Service

  • Finding Domestic Services (roofer, landscaper, babysitter etc.)

  • Scheduling Future Tasks & Reminders

  • General Purchases (Online, Phone-in, Flowers, Gifts, etc.)

2 Powerful Closing Questions

My friend Bob Marshall suggests that you coach your candidates to ask this question before they leave an interview: "Let's say you make me an offer and I accept, what can I do when I start here to relieve your immediate workload?"

Peter Leffkowitz suggests candidates also ask this before they leave an interview, ?Do you have any concerns about my ability to perform this job. If you do, I'd like the opportunity to address them now?.

What employer wouldn?t be thrilled to hear a candidate ask these two questions? It?s your job to coach your candidates on every aspect of the interview process including memorizing a couple of high impact questions to ask before they meet with your client. Role play this process with them until they sound confident and polished.
