This is a CONTRACT to HIRE Position, so GREEN CARD or US Citizen only!

The Database Administrator is responsible for all activities related to the administration and design of Fund databases. Confers with and advises on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods. Consults with and advises IT staff of the various databases. Projects long-range requirements for database.

The Database Administrator is responsible for the analysis of all requirements for new or modified applications in order to develop database specifications. Responsibilities also include the assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the enterprise.

5+ Years

•X Database Support: Ensure the effectiveness of the FundíŽs database environment. Analyze and define the properties required by a Database Management System that will meet the current and future needs of the Fund. Participate in the analysis of the FundíŽs business and define the logical database structure for current and future application development. Establish and maintain the corporate data dictionary
•X Database Maintenance: Ensure that all production databases are properly maintained to ensure optimum performance. Continually review production processing to measure database performance, and improve where required
•X Development Support: Ensure that the development and QA teams have an adequate database environment in which to develop and test solutions requiring a DBMS. Monitor space usage, and ensure that these environments remain in synch with the production environment
•X Production Support: Oversee, or directly handle, the process of migrating database changes into the production environment during all software releases. Partner with the Help Desk and Applications Development staff in troubleshooting and fixing any production problems by diagnosing any database issues that contribute to, or were caused by, the problem. Ensure that any database problems are repaired. Perform data corrections as requested by the business. Also partner with Applications Development staff in the creation and/or running of database queries requested by the business community
•X Security: Ensure that the security of the database is maintained by periodically reviewing user access, and ensuring that employees no longer requiring access to the database are removed from having access
•X Staff Database: Personally perform all administrative responsibilities on the Production database that stores staff-related data. Ensure that access to the staff database is limited only to the business owner. If the staff database resides on a separate computer, oversee support of that computer

•X Managerial and Miscellaneous Responsibilities: In conjunction with the IT management review the performance of all contract staff to ensure the effectiveness of the services. Coordinate and communicate the change control process, to ensure efficient processing. Supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems, such as the installation of new databases. Perform other related tasks as directed by IT Management

Experience (minimum needed).
•X At least 5 years DBA experience in Microsoft SQL Server.
•X Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server 2008
•X Review and optimize database changes prior to production deployment
•X Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
•X Experience in Performance Tuning, Index Optimization, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
•X Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
•X Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, mirroring, replication, encryption, partitioning
•X Experience in implementing operational automation
•X Strong knowledge of indexes, integrity checks, configuration, patching, statistics, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively
•X Knowledge of SQL Server tools ( Profiler, PerfMon, system sprocs)
•X Experience working with SQL Server Reporting Services
•X Hands on experience tuning and debugging SSIS packages
•X Solid acquaintance with windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage components
•X Provide staff with reliable and secure database environment
•X Provide development team with database expertise and support for programming tasks
•X Provide ability to support business continuity plans
•X Strong high availability/disaster recovery background on Microsoft platform
•X Experience working with virtualized database servers via VMware and SAN storage
